Maddie's officially potty trained! She's been using the potty for a while but we've been so lazy about having her wear underpants, especially when we're out. But today, she wore underpants to dinner and went the bathroom at the restaurant. When we went to get dessert she had to go and I asked her if she could hold it til we got home and she said "yes, i think that's fine." When we got home she used the bathroom again! Congrats Maddie!

It has been raining like crazy today which has been quite a treat for Maddie. She's been talking about the rain, watching the raindrops land in her sand/water table, listening to the rain hit the skylights, and watching people run around with umbrellas, raincoats, and rainboots (all items you rarely see in CA). Then, as the rain subsided and the clouds lifted a bit, we saw a rainbow! As we were driving, we kept pointing out the rainbow but it was hard for Maddie to see it because she didn't know where to look. Nonetheless, it was really exciting for her. All of this made me realize how as a busy adult, I never take the time to enjoy the little pleasures in life, like a big rainstorm or a beautiful rainbow that appears when the storm subsides. It's great to have a child in my life to help me stop to smell the roses once in a while!

Last night Marianne was over and Maddie asked her if she was going to spend the night. Marianne told her no, that she was going home. Surprising us once again, Maddie (obviously wanting Marianne to stay) looked out the window and said "I don't think you should go home, it's too dark outside." For dinner we had Indian food and Maddie just loved the chicken tikka masala. She's got an amazing tolerance for spicy foods! This morning when Maddie went downstairs she said "I had a lot of fun with Marianne last night." She doesn't seem like a 2 year old to us anymore!

This morning Brian was telling Maddie all the reasons we're so proud of her; she listens well in school, she does somersaults in gymnastics, she's really nice to adrienne, and she eats really well. Then Brian asked Maddie if she was proud of him for anything and Maddie paused and said "Well, you take out the trash..." Brian said is that ALL you're proud of me for? And Maddie said yes. She makes us laugh so much.

Why didn't we start using this site earlier?!!! We should be able to update you all a lot more often with aboutmybaby than we did with the hacked together site that Brian made :)
Well, where do I start. We've quickly adjusted to life with 2 kids. The adjustment has gone relatively smoothly because Adrienne is a very easy baby. She rarely cries (except in the car!!) and she's just a really easy going, happy baby. I look forward to the mornings because I know I'm going to get a huge gummy smile from her! What a nice change from Maddie who is definitely not a morning person!!! Maddie is really sweet with Adrienne. She loves to read to Adrienne, sing to Adrienne, change Adrienne's diapers, etc.
We've been amazed with how much Maddie has changed over the past several months. She is so verbal now and we're constantly amazed with the thoughts that go through her head. i.e. She was watching Dora the other day and when Boots the monkey started counting in Spanish, she said "I didn't know monkeys could speak Spanish!" The other day she was looking through her drawers trying to decide what to wear and she said "Mommy, what's the temperature outside?"
Brian is embarking on a new adventure in a couple weeks...he'll be starting work at a small startup called XFire. They do buddylists/IM for PC games. What could be better for Brian than a job at a game company! We're all really excited to see how it goes. It'll be an adjustment for the girls to have daddy gone a lot, but I'm sure we'll all work it out.
I hear Adrienne crying, gotta run ...Comments:Add a comment:
