Yesterday evening we went to 'Christmas Lane' in San Carlos. It was insane. There's a 2 block stretch where literally every house is covered with Christmas lights, reindeers, Santas, snowmen. One house had free popcorn (being made in an old-fashioned popcorn maker) and hot chocolate. Another home had turned their garage door into an outdoor movie screen playing The Grinch who stole Christmas. One home had old black and white holiday movies playing. Several homes had Christmas music playing. One house had 12-inch grinches hidden all over their yard with a big sign saying "Can you find all 24 grinches?" There were other small touches like decorated mailboxes that said "North Pole" and reindeer pulling a sleigh with presents in it. The whole scene must sound rather tacky but it was actually quite beautiful and a very fun street to walk down as a family. Maddie loved seeing all the lights, snowmen, and reindeer. Christmas and the holidays have taken on a whole new meaning now that we have children.

I wish I could write down every funny thing Maddie says.
Today she came running up to me with her baby doll and said "Mommy, do you want to see my baby's armpits?" Random!!!
Brian was reading her the five little monkeys jumping on the bed book and she asked "do the monkeys have a daddy? where is he, at work?"
I was asking Maddie what she wants to be when she grows up and first she said a doctor and then she said she wants to be a housekeeper. Then she said "Mommy, when I turn 3, can I be a housekeeper?" The girl loves to clean which is a good thing because she is messy!!!
So Adrienne, she has really started to change in the past month. She is moving all over the place. Not crawling, but somehow managing to turn herself around and move halfway across a room at any given time. It's so strange, I watch her and it doesn't look like she's moving but suddenly she ends up several feet away from where she started. She's objecting (crying) when I take things away from her and she's reaching for everything!!! The best new trick of all is that she gives kisses...big, open-mouthed, wet kisses. You gotta love it.

Maddie has been really really really REALLY testing us the past couple weeks. She is soooooo naughty!!! She knows exactly how to push our buttons and has amazing endurance when it comes to tantrums. People keep telling me it's a sign of intelligence but all I can do is think "what have I done wrong?" I never thought I would already feel this way when my child is not even 3 years old!!! I'm really frightened for the teenage years.
